Furtwangen, August 5, 2025 – In production environments with small or varying batch sizes, complete automation can be uneconomical. In such cases, manual or semi-automated solutions offer a better cost-benefit ratio. A typical case: In a palletizing system, a camera is used to detect the exact position of the component. If there is a product change, the image sensor must be readjusted. IEF-Werner is exhibiting its manual adjustment unit domiLINE in Düsseldorf. A steel spindle moves the guide system. Positioning is carried out using a rotary knob or handwheel. Slide widths of 30, 50, 80, and 120 millimeters are available. These can be connected to the manual MDV rotary units. The backlash of the worm gearing is adjustable and has already been reduced to a minimum at the factory. This increases the repeat accuracy during positioning. New: The largest NC rotary table, the DT 160/200, is now also available as a manual version. It has a width of 160, a height of 200, and a depth of 90 millimeters, and weighs 9.8 kilograms. Its size and load capacity make it particularly attractive for large and heavy components.
Another exhibit in Düsseldorf shows a robot that will be mounted on a linear unit – keyword: "robot with 7th axis." In assembly and material handling, this axis can significantly increase the efficiency of the robot. This is because it moves from one production station to another with a much greater range, which can be extended if necessary. The special feature: the axis and robot can be moved via a common control system, which means that the servo motor-driven axis does not require its own separate control unit. This not only saves space for a separate control cabinet, but also reduces expensive programming costs. Thanks to modern single-cable technology, a single cable from the control cabinet to the motor of the 7th axis is sufficient. The daisy chain method also allows additional drives – such as rotary tables – to be seamlessly integrated into the system in a space-saving manner. These additional drives are conveniently controlled via a UR Cap for Polyscope, ensuring simple and consistent operation. An economical complete solution that is modular and quick to set up.
A proven solution that numerous companies have been using successfully for years is the flexibly designed aiPRESS servo press series. It is available in four sizes – 3, 15, 36, and 100 kN – and can be integrated into both automated production lines and manual workstations. This allows workpieces to be joined or pressed with a high precision of a few micrometers. Force-displacement monitoring, provided by the intuitive aiQ-Control press control system, means that continuous quality control is already built into the aiPRESS. Assemblies can thus be classified not only into good and bad parts, but even into different quality levels. The series has several standardized software and I/O interfaces for connection to the customer's system landscape. The press can be further adapted using various special functions.
