The Next Generation
The aiPRESS series of IEF-Werner is suited to be integrated into plants as well as to be used as a stand-alone system. The solution presses components with an accuracy of a few micrometres – automatically. IEF-Werner developed the series further: users receive a new generation with numerous improvements and processes that are more precise. In particular, the system offers more force on compact space compared to the predecessor.
Furtwangen, the 20.08.2018. For years, IEF-Werner offers the aiPRESS, a proven and successful servo press series. Users are able to integrate the flexibly constructed system into automatized production lines as well as manual work places. Therefore, the presses are equipped with multiple standardised software- as well as simple E/A-interfaces. The automation specialist developed the series further and it now offers more force on a compact space as usual to the operator. Instead of as before in four, the new generation is available in three sizes: with three kilo newton and 180 millimetres opening, 15 kilo newton and 230 millimetres opening as well as 36 kilo newton and 280 millimetres opening.
The servo press is based on a stable and torsion resistant C-frame made of tool steel. In order to absorb lateral forces, the power train is made of a high-precision spindle, a servo motor and a quill guide. A precision guide of the aiPRESS keeps the power train on track during the whole duty stroke. Furthermore, IEF-Werner realised the mechanical interface for tools in a more massive way. Lateral forces may be compensated even better with the new generation.
The next generation of aiPRESS includes the external path measuring system in the standard edition already. It is located directly at the pressing quill. Moreover, the user profits from a very high repeat accuracy of ± 0.001 millimetres. It is new that the system is able to eliminate through mechanical decoupling of the measuring device and to compensate through engine control deformations, bendings, or settings that interfere with the force-transmitting parts.
When developing the aiPRESS, IEF-Werner put great emphasis on a safe operation. If it is used as a stand-alone system, a transparent, protective cover ensures a full coverage of the workspace during the pressing process. Therefore, the user neither has the possibility to reach the danger zone with his hand, nor can he be harmed by chipping parts. The protective housing is NC-controlled and designed so that no risk of injury exists when closing it.
The IEF-developers not only adjusted the hardware and augmented further functions, but also the software was improved. A wear and maintenance information as well as definable inputs and outputs in the process are new amongst others. The customer receives these in the standard edition without extra charge.
The user is able to benefit with the new aiPRESS from two or more force areas. The individual versions are able to realise every step with maximum force through scaling and on demand with calibration of sub-sections. For example: when using the largest series with 36 kilo newton, another press with 30 and one with six kilo newton are available amongst others if required – without any loss of accuracy. Depending on the case, also standardised turntables or drawers can be attached for an optimised parts handling. The automation specialist also gladly realises special solutions on demand.
